Please could you all tell me what companies you have used for dog insurance and how they have performed - i.e. do they pay out when you make a claim?!

PS - Don't know if it has any baring, but I would my dogs so would need a company that is happy to cover working dogs.

Very few of the mainstream pet insurance companies cover working dogs (this includes dog sports like agility, flyball, dock dogs etc) - this may come as a surprise as it's not mentioned in any of the policy details.

I have one with Animal Friends and one with Direct Line, I enquired about cover for sled dog racing and was told in no uncertain terms that my insurance would be void if they partook (that is, for all claims as well as any arising from injury through the actual racing!) and the list of stuff they don't cover was ridiculous, including any kind of agility (training as well as competition).

Countryside Alliance do a working dog insurance package, Aviva cover gundogs, sheepdogs and assistance/guide dogs. The breed society may have some other suggestions as they may have encountered this before.
