Any ideas? Scummy Bloke from yard over the road won't keep his revolting terrier contained and it keeps crossing the (fast, dangerous) road to get to my Mum's JR and Ridgeback bitches. Mum's dogs are securely fenced in, but this terrier keeps digging/chewing its way in. We have been patient but have now had enough and I have told him that he will get a large bill if it impregnates one of the bitches. The most recent time Mum was furious and told him she will beat it up next time

-he always says he will keep it in/at home but then never does. Have had some ideas (!) but need some legal ones!

My friend used to breed dogs and used to put small knickers on the bitches if they were coming into season - they looked a bit silly, but it worked ( I think).

I assume your mum is joking re the beating thing

, it's the bloke that wants beating

I would scoop it up and take it straight to the pound or call the dog warden, then tell the owner? he will then have to foot the bill to get it back, however many times it happens

and if he does not, it will atleast not end up squashed on the road, bloke sounds like a right to££er

Thanks for the ideas..I do want to implement the dog warden one, but the terrier is so savage that you'd get bitten trying to pick it up! The dog knickers is an amusing idea, but we shouldn't have to do this! It also doesn't solve the problem of the dog chewing its way in- it creates a hole in the fencing for Mum's dogs to escape through and get on the road.

You don't need to confine the terrier to contact the dog warden.

It is an offence to allow a dog to stray in a public place, therefore you can log a complaint with the dog warden service notifying them of the dog and where it lives, for them to visit the owner. It may not solve the problem but at least it is then in the hands of the authorities. Plus if the terrier is aggressive you can mention this as this is a risk to public safety.

Another idea is that if you are on speaking terms with the owner how about see if he'll get his terrier neutered?

I take it that you are wanting to breed from your bitches otherwise get them speyed.
