Dog kennels on Stena ferry - any experience?

Just wondering if anyone has used the kennels on a Stena ferry? Traveling as a foot passenger from Liverpool to Belfast so have to book my dog into their kennels, you can go and see them and let them out for a walk, so sounds fine, but it is an overnight crossing so hoping my dog will cope ok!
 
Oh, didn't realise they had kennels on the ferry ..good new as I'll be travelling that way in September and taking dog. Be interesting to know what they're like please.
 
It seems to depend which route, I've only just investigated today - costs an extra £15 each way on this one. I think if you take the car you can leave them in there if its a shorter crossing - I'll let you know how it goes!
 
We have used one travelling from Hook of Holland to Harwich with Stena, also an overnight crossing. There are 2 sizes of kennels, I forget the dimensions but they are on the Stena website. We used the bigger one and it was plenty big enough. There was a room with about 8 kennels and I think 5 were occupied. There was another room with double the amount of smaller kennels (for cats and small breed dogs). On the TV in our cabin there was a channel that you could watch the CCTV cameras in the kennel rooms on. You were also allowed to visit at any time and there was an area of the deck that you could take the dog for a pee on. You don't have to use the kennels if you don't want to, you can leave them in the car but you still pay £15. I'd definitely use the kennels again. We also went on the ferry from Oslo to Frederikshavn (Denmark) and it was great as the dog was allowed in the cabin with us :-)
 
They are pretty basic, as expected, but as you know you can visit and take them out. I have always found the people working on the ferries extremely helpful. We brought a puppy over from Ireland, decided to leave her in the car as it was a short crossing, but I was happy with how everything was handled.
