i'm looking to get a kennel for H for the autumn and have been looking at second hand ones on ebay. just wondering what people's opinions are on plastic ones and if they're warm enough. it would just be for during the day and there is a sheltered place to put it. would also put an old duvet or something inside. she is a staffie terrier mix and i will grow her wiry coat out to give her some protection.

My dog wouldn't go in the kennel we bought. Instead we ended up buying a children's wooden playhouse which he loves- now fully equipped with central heating, security light and radio. He's in his house during the morning and the dog walker then puts him back in our house once she has been in the afternoon- he seems quiet happy with this routine.

Possibly an Igloo kennel in a decent size dog run and stuffed with dry straw or paper wool might be ok,the beding will need changing almost daily to stop it getting wet from wet paws treading in damp. That is why blankets are no good at all.Personally I would prefer a decent wooden kennel with a separate covered in bed area,so that the wet can be absorbed by a towel or somesuch before the dog reaches his actual bed.

thanks for the help, ill see what i can pick up online. if its raining i can leave her in the house or pop back at lunch and put her in she just seems happier outside hence needing a kennel. the garden isnt very big and very well secured so no issue that way. it will probably only be until march anyway.
