Dog kills child???

where does it say he is being held for manslaughter? the report says held in custody for questioning. Awful tragedy for all concerned.

here we go again- another child has to die because of negligence. whatever happened, which noone is clear of yet, there is no excuse to leave a little tot alone with dogs, big or small!!we have dogs here but if there is a small child in the house then dogs are out!!!

p.s. i read that granny and little sister were there too, it only takes for little kids to tease a dog, pull its tail or an ear, or even give it food, its enough to set a dog off-totally unnecessary loss of another poor little life.

What a terrible thing to happen. I don't think the child was alone with the dog, the gran was there. I don't think we can label the guy negligent as we don't know the full story yet and he wasn't even there at the time. Interested to know what he has been charged with.
What a horrendous thing for this family to live with. Imagine having to live with that. Poor people.

Yep he is being done for manslaughter as he owns the dog and is therefore responsible for its actions.....am not sure which law it is but I know the owners of two dogs who attacked a postman on a private road in Cambridge were tried for something because they were the owners - even tough they weren't in the country when it happened

American Bulldog, not banned but not KC recognised as yet? Or am I wrong in that?

You are right. I think in all honesty we could have been expecting this breed to be a problem as they got popular. Cane corsas and canary dogs will IMHO be another threat.
This thing with the manslaughter suggestion is a strange one though. Elle Lawrensons ( killed by the pit bull),gran faced a charge of manslauaghter due to gross negligence and that fell through because the dog had a mind of its own therefore the gran could never have known if it would attack. I honestly cannot see how they could ever charge anybody without a huge change in the law.

Canary dogs are banned, aren't they?

There are Cane Corsos available on some of my favourite free websites :( :( :( just the thing for a novicey owner looking for a cool dog, argh!

I have met a couple of AB, the first was a very high-drive female who knocked me off my feet, I am used to big dogs jumping on me but wasn't expecting the weight. Owner was baiting her (getting her to hang off tree branches etc) but without any direction or purpose which IMO is madness. Didn't like her at all but it was his fault, not hers.

I know a bloke who works them and has made at least one to SchIII so they are useful for something but obviously if that drive is misdirected, they are very powerful dogs.
