Hey,

My jack Russell has been licking her paws quite a lot and seems quite down and quiet compared to normal. I have examined her paws but they don't look red and there is no hair loss/ signs. She is eating etc as normal.

Does anyone know what it could be, or have you had similar? :) :(

Do you walk on the roads because if the roads have been gritted and salted this will irritate your dogs paws. If you have I would suggest you wash your dogs feet after a walk and dry thoroughly.

Hi no we don't really walk on roads as she is a farm dog .... Dingle how do you know the anal glands need treating/ are there other symptoms? Thanks for the advice all.

Also a sign for anal glands especially in terriers.

I had to do one of my lads yesterday, not pretty, but stops him ski-ing across the floor! He was desperately uncomfortable, love him but all happy as soon as it was done. It's easy to do although for smaller dogs, you want small fingers  (sorry, mate wants her chi doing, I didn't offer cos I have big hands   )

Get your vet to show you how then you can do it yourself.

I do mine myself pop yours along to the vets and if your happy to they will show you how to do them, you need to keep an eye out for infection too. My terrier is a pain with them.
Other signs are biting the back end or feet, sitting down and dragging there bum across the floor I've seen some really raw dogs come into the vets as it drives them mad. Adding a little bran into food can help.
