One of my collies was gravely ill at the age of 8 months though which i nursed him, getting up hourly at night to feed him lectade and then take him for a wee before giving him a little food to keep him built up.When he was well his character around other dogs changed. He was anxious and avoidant. He then started to chase away any dog which came near me.A dog trainer explained how in a pack a poorly dog may be culled, hence this could be related to my dogs fear aggression.I watched some Caesar Milan training around this behaviour, picking up that my dog had assumed responsibility for me.I managed to reverse the dynamics with me taking full control with excellent results. This collie still prefers his own company to other dogs but he will not go anywhere near a dog,and the only time he snaps is in situations where other dogs harass him.For some reason other dogs pick up a weakness in him and they then tend to plague him He is a lovely dog who is great with people and children, and he's quite nervous and just wants to please. He does hate loud noises and will retreat quickly if there's any bangs, fireworks and loud noises. He is remarkably obedient and he seems happier in the submissive role.
