Does anyone know of a good spray or home made remedy to prevent a dog from cocking his leg! We have had loads of sheepdogs & this is the first one that we have had a problem house training. We went to HOYS & were told in the schedule that dogs weren't allowed not even to stay in your lorry(though we saw quite a few & were rather annoyed!) so we booked him into a kennels. Since then he cocks his leg up in the same place nearly every night! Think its to do with the smell - we've taught him like all our others but it just doesn't sink in. He does it by the pedal bin - we've just had a new one so we resort to picking it up at night now which seems a bit better so think its to do with the smell. He's so intelligent in every other way - but he's driving us mad! He is with another older dog at night who is & always has been spotlessly clean. Really need some ideas or we will be buying him a kennel!thanks

Is he doing it during the night when you are in bed? If so then I really don't know how you would stop it. If movingthe bin is helping then continue to do that and hope he grows out of it eventually.
If you catch him doing it then sharp no and straight out and praise for weeing there. I found a squirt with a plant mister a good deterrent.

My dog used to do that but he started when we bought a bitch into the house . . . i found it pretty hard catching him in the act as he would do it when know one was around. So i used to buy olbas oil mix it with water and spray it where he used to do it. He did stop weeing there but started growling at it until he realised that it wont make the smell go away. It worked for me :-)
