Dog pooed in my car

My dog did a poo/wee in my car yesterday. She is old and was on her way home from the vets after a 6 hour stay to have an abscess removed. Dog is doing really well...

I cleaned the mess up straight away - but today I got in the car it stinks! I'm going to be asphyxiated if I continue to drive it - my eyes were watering and I was gagging from the stink.

I had to buy a can of Impulse from the corner shop so I could spray it while driving (even with the windows open). Honestly I was wretching, the seats are velour but I made sure that I got every last drop of poo off them.

Should I just buy a new car and take this one for scrap (it is an old, cheap car) - anyone got any ideas to remove the stench of rancid sick dog poo from a car? I am not looking forwards to driving to the yard tomorrow

Have had this with my dog when she was ill - I got a scrubbing brush, and some bleach and water, scrubbed the car out, and it dried out fine with no smell.

Glad your dog is doing OK, although it is gross for you they cant help it when they are old

Watched kim and aggi , spay tonic water on area then blot off with kitchen roll. removes any stain and smell,???? maybe worth a try
 
Extreme measures, but if it was on the seat I would remove the seat completely from your car (socket set required), soak in detergent, then get a jetwash on it. With a bit of luck the sun will shine and it will dry out quickly!

I jetwashed a completely written off rug a few weeks ago and the result was amazing.
 
try leaving a small dish of vinegar on the floor in the car overnight.
it works for paint smells and i'd say some paints would have a stronger smell than wee/poo??
 
Bicarbonate of soda is supposed to be good for removing smells. Maybe scrub the seat again with some vinagar water and then sprinkle with the bicarb. Dettol do a can of antibacterial spray that is very good too. Hope your dawg is making a speedy recovery.
 
Right, I'm off to the car now with vinegar, tonic water and bicarb...all stuff I had indoors.
