Help please! My friend has just had to say goodbye to her best friend of 12 years, her lovely dog.

She's devastated to say the least and I just want to send her a little something to say I'm thinking of her as I live miles away and in the middle of night shifts so I can't visit. She hates flowers so they're off the list, allergic to milk so no chocolate either. I was thinking maybe a photo of her beloved dog in a nice frame or a personalised cushion with her photo on it but I'm not sure?

Any ideas would be fab, thank you :)

My friend lost her boy 4 months ago and as his KC name was Sea Hawk I found a hawk brooch on eBay. She burst into tears when I gave it to her

That's really nice and sentimental.

Her name was Gina, she was just a Heinz 57 rescue dog. Was thinking of maybe getting a nice metal keyring with engraving on the back. I can't put the date she was born - date of death as no one knows them. Not sure what to have put on it other than her name?

Could you put the 'owniversary' date instead? Lovely idea :)

That's a great idea - I will find out when that is and I'll do that. I went to go see her in the end last night even though it was miles and miles away, just to take a bunch of flowers and a hug. Didn't get there until 10:30pm but she was really happy to see me, made being tired in work today worth it :)

ETA: she does usually hate flowers but on this occassion they did the trick. Will be still getting her a nice personalised gift too.

If you are on Facebook, check out The Flat Newt. She does lovely personalised dog themed gifts ( keyrings/jewellery etc) I got her to do necklace with my much missed girlies name on it, so I can wear it every day and think of her.
