Dog PTS - not telling daughter have I done the right thing

I don't know your daughter, but speaking as someone her age, I think at first she might not understand and will probably be very upset and maybe even quite cross.
But you have done the right thing, if she messes up her exams, that'd be much worse than not knowing for a short time. If she's anything like me, there'll be sleepless nights, she'll be blaming herself and you don't want that before exams.

You're doing the right things
So sorry you're going through this :( *hugs* R.I.P Dennis

I think Nah has got it spot on, at first she will be angry mainly because she is going to be upset....but she will understand once she can see why you did it and the fact that these exams shape the rest of her life...i think 100% you have done the right thing. :)

My first pony had to be PTS while I was living away from home. This was about 20 years ago and my parents and boyfrend decided to wait until the weekend to tell me so he could be there with me. I am grateful that they did so - it made no difference to what happened but meant that I could have support when needed. I think you have done the right thing.

I think you have done the right thing. Her finals are so important that any distractions could really disrupt her revision.

Yes, she may be a bit angry at first but she will understand.

If I were in that situation I would be glad my mum didn't prolong the suffering so that I could come home and say bye, I would want the dog to suffer for as little as possible.
