Good afternoon all,

I have an aged Sloughi who weighs around 30kg, he has hurt his shoulder and the vet has recommended that he should no longer jump in and out of the car, or go upstairs or on the settee. He now is going to the vets more often so he is in the car more often and he dislikes being picked up and sometimes the action of picking him up aggravates his shoulder, so we have decided to get a ramp for him. Does anyone on her have one that they would recommend? We drive a Zafira at the moment so would need to fit in there.

Would really appreciate any advice or recommendations.

Thanks

A

Hi, we have a PetStep for our rotties and it's brilliant. They have both been on there at the same time ( one was 52kg and one 44kg ) and it didn't flinch a bit!

The downside is it is quite heavy and can me cumbersome to unfold if you are on your own and trying to hold the car door open at the same time, but I believe they come in different sizes so smaller ones may be easier to manage.

ETA: ours is for a Land Cruiser and reaches to the back door height easily.

I don't know the name of mine but I got it off preloved for £10. It's wood and carpeted, fits in my skoda fabia and Jack loves it. They people I bought it from had it for a lab and a rotti so I can hold larger dogs.

A few years ago now my Dad made one for our old lab. Just a bit of sturdy planking which he carpeted, used to lay it down in the back of our estate car and pull it out when needed. I think he just stood with his foot at the bottom to stop it slipping and wedged it at the top (this was before you could buy such a thing)!

Thanks everyone for your responses, really appreciate them. We have decided to get a pet step in the house so that he can get up and down off the settee, however we would struggle with all the dogs and one of them in the car so have found this http://www.easyanimal.co.uk/deluxe-telescopic-dog-ramp.html not sure if anyone has used one of these however it should fit in with all the pooches.

Sadly neither my husband or I are clever enough to make anything I would trust our dog standing on!

Thanks again

That looks very similar to the one used by some people I know who have two Old English Mastiffs. If it is, if it can cope with those two, it'll cope with anything - I've seen ponies that are smaller!
