Dog suddenly on 3 legs

So, without any sign of injuring herself, no yelping etc the Beast is on 3 legs! She won't put her back right leg on the floor. No sign of an injury, you can manipulate it without her reacting.
I thought she'd work it out but nope. She doesn't appear in pain with it, it's very odd.
My vet has an emergency service, but I was going to wait until tomorrow as apart from her leg not working she's in great form! Although she would not be in good form going to the vet lol
Or should I get her to him tonight? I'm terrified he'll want to keep her in overnight which would be a major no.
 
If she is not showing any sign of pain and seems happy in herself I think I would leave her till tomorrow. Keep her restricted so she isn't likely to do further damage. Fingers crossed it resolves itself.
 
I hope so! I keep hearing 'cruciate ligament' going through my head! I carried her (in her bed!) to the kitchen for her dinner and age gad dinner in bed! Lol
She seems to be being sensible and isn't messing.
 
Evie has twice in the last couple of weeks had brief spells of lameness on a hind leg and I am having "cruciate" panic thoughts too,although fingers crossed she just twisted it. In Beasties case even if it is her cruciate then hopefully the treatment would be rest not surgery as she is small so you will be doing nothing to harm it by leaving her tomorrow.
 
I have and am still going through this with my small dog. Same as yours no obvious pain etc. I went to vets and gave me some painkillers and advised rest. I was advised it was prob cruciate- I think it probably is as we are nie a month down the line and she does now walk on it , but is still running on 3 legs. Vets will advise X-ray probably if she doesn't come sound in a week or so. Hope dog improves soon :) what breed is it??
 
She's a miniature schnauzer. Seems to be trying to use it more today and actually has been running and hopping down the garden steps!
Just spends the rest of the time in bed, but that's normal for her she can be a lazy madam!
 
Ya as above, restrict her exercise for a few days to give her some recovery time, and see how she goes. Glad to hear she is bit better today :)
 
So, vet also suspects cruciate but due to her age, is reluctant to sedate her unnecessarily so he has prescribed painkillers and some r&r with a bit of restricted exercise for two weeks then back for a review! She was a good girl as always. Thank you for taking time to reply :)
 
Hey gina - just like my dog! Honestly I am 5 weeks on now and mine will walk on it slowly but is still visibly lame on it, so depending on the severity just bear in mind it may take a while to heal. You should notice some improvement in 2 weeks though. Fingers crossed your doggy improves. Have u noticed any popping noises / feel movement in the stifle joint?
 
She is becoming more confident on 3 legs and has been attempting to use it. She has fallen a few times which is distressing as she struggles to get up :( wooden floors don't help but when she'd in carpet and outside she motors along rightly!
I haven't manipulated it myself, I don't want to upset her, the vet said he could feel a bit of movement, but as she was pulling against him it was hard to tell how much movement there was.
 
Ah sounds so similar to my dog. Ya just take it slowly, mine has taken to 3 legs happily for a quick walk etc, she uses bad leg at a slow walk. Ya mine has also lost back leg, sounds like they have both done the same thing :( :( hope yours improves soon. Did u get metacam from vet?
 
It begins with M and is similar to Metacam but isn't lol can't think offhand what it is. Mum said she now happily hops up and down the stairs, whereas before you'd have to carry her so she is adjusting!
