Hi,

Can anyone recommend any good reputable dog trainers or training clubs in Northern Ireland? I've done a google search and have seen various ads etc but would rather have word of mouth recommendations.

Thanks!

What kind of thing are you looking for? Basic manners? Agility? Obedience? Fixing certain issues? What breed is your dog and what would you be looking to achieve? How far are you prepared to travel?

Can highly recommend Neil Powell from Newcastle for basic manners, he does home visits and classes in Newry and Newcastle. For agility, flyball or HTM, K9ARC in Dromara is fantastic. If it's a competition obedience trainer PM me and I'll tell you who to avoid..

Hi,

Thanks for both replies - I should have been more specific. There are a few 'issues' to sort but I also want to improve general all round obedience. Issues first, then obedience (not that you can really separate them) and then ultimately something like agility would be fun.

Dog in question is a lurcher and a rescue.

I'm about in Co. Down and happy to travel within reason.

Thanks again

You could contact Greyhounds as Pets NI on Facebook to see who they would recommend, the are obviously involved in greyhound and lurcher rescue and may be able to pinpoint someone who is experienced with lurchers and who could deal with your dog's issues :)

And agree Neil Powell is a thoroughly bloody nice chap :p
Keith Mathews would probably be the most high profile but he is very gundoggy.
