My spaniel has suddenly decided over the last 3 days that she doesnt like her bed. She is reluctant to go in and if she does only stays a few minutes and jumps out, also seems to jump as if shes been bitten by something. Seems unsettled generally. Ive checked her over to see if she has any burrs etc, and changed her bedding in case there was something in that she didnt like, but she is still doing it. Nothing changed at home, she seems happy generally, I m at a bit of a loss , any ideas !

I washed my dog’s bed and he flatly refused to go near it so I went out and bought a snazzy new extra comfy one, he’s never been near that one either! He seems to prefer the carpet so that’s his bed now. Maybe your dogs bed just smells wrong now ?

Have you tried putting the bed in a different place?
That’ll tell you whether its the bed itself or the placement.

Another thought..
Can you check her anal glands?..her behavior of jumping up as if bitten is very typical of a dog who needs the glands expressing( my schnauzer will sometimes do a jump and spin looking to her rear..it’s always the glands).

Yes, Bella I have wondered about her anal glands, she does have them looked at very regularly, recently done.
I moved her bed into another place and she did spend a hour in it last evening. She is sitting in the lounge looking out into the hall regularly too, I am beginning to wonder if its early dementia signs.

I just came to post about my unsettled spaniel too. Despite walking miles and the freedom of the house he is pacing the kitchen. The other dogs are just watching him like what are you doing. Mine is super neurotic though at the best of times.
