How much leeway is there in terms of timescales? Mine were due to have Lepto mid year, I simply haven’t got round to it ? originally because of lockdown and then because I was trying to get Ace better....

Click on Leptospira

You should be fine for this year..the new vaccine lasts a year for lepto.
The next vaccine will be one or two shots depending on the dogs exposure to water sources ,etc where rats have been.

..from link above..
“Overdue for Revaccination
Sufficient data do not exist to assess the immune memory response to a single dose of vaccine in dogs that have not received a booster vaccination within 1 year since the previous dose. The decision whether to administer a single booster dose or 2 doses 2 to 4 wk apart should be made with regional and lifestyle risks in mind.”

Oh dear - this is Lepto 4 which is recommended by all vets around this area due to recorded cases - sounds like I’ll need 2 injections to start him again. My fault! Only Marty to do now mind you ??

For lepto 2, if the lapse is less than 3 months then just a single booster.

My dog's Lepto 2 was overdue because of coronavirus restrictions. I was expecting her to have 2 doses as it was 4 months overdue but she was just given one.

Lev, if Marty has Lepto 4 then you might find this helpful.

For those dogs who have become overdue for their vaccines as a results of COVID-19 restrictions, you should:
  • Make sure you make an appointment for vaccines as soon as possible

  • Lepto 2 will only need a single booster if less than 3 months overdue, and a course of 2 vaccines 2 weeks apart if over 3 months overdue

  • Lepto 4 will need two injections, 4 weeks apart if the dog is more than 6 months overdue.

Yes he had his last one a year and a half ago now?

It’s all very complicated - George has never been done because of his advanced years, Colin is just starting out so he is fine, Millie and Marty are on the cusp of ‘do they need to be done anymore....’

Mind you it was so flipping expensive when I had 4 dogs the same age and got them all done at the same time each year!

fabulous SD that’s exactly what I needed - thank you very much indeed!

I’ll ring the vets tomorrow, the best vet in the world is on duty so maybe he will have an appointment free!

Hmmmph why do you always find the vaccination certificates for the ones you have lost when you search them all out.... ??? Amy and Ace....?
