Where in your opinion is the BEST dog walking in the UK? Am based down South so want to head up north somewhere maybe? Just want a long weekend, just me and my dog, a nice rented cottage or something where we can just walk all day together and cuddle up infront of the tv in bed in the evenings together. Not answer o anybody, not have to talk to anybody. Just me, my dog and some amazing dog walking areas? Thanks

I love the Peak District for walking, especially around Edale:) I shall be going there to do just the same myself when it warms up a bit, as I will be camping due to poverty I will need slightly warmer weather first:D

Yep, the Lakes are gorgeous too - or how about Wales? I went to the source of the Severn this summer, and it was beautiful:)

I know its not exactly going up north.... but we went to the Gower in Sept/Oct with two dogs. Due to the age of one we didn't do massive amounts of walking, but definitely had impression there were many good day walks available. The beaches were absolutely stunning and at that time of year we had no problems taking dogs on the vast majority.
We stayed in a lovely, very sensibly priced 1 bed cottage which welcomed two dogs and had a two acre garden for them to run in...

We stayed here last June, really lovely off the beaten track cottage, dogs welcome, horse in oaddock next door that comes to say hello every morning and very friendly owners of cottage. walking was so good we went back there (for the day) to walk 'the Roaches' again last September!

We love taking Yellow Dog to North Wales - my aunt and uncle rent out their cabin in Snowdonia National Park so we can walk for miles (or until OH finds a pub  ;) ) :)

Could you pm me where you stayed. I went to uni in Swansea, and spent many a good day on the Gower. I keep saying I'll take my hubby and sont there, so to find somewhere the dogs could come would be great...

Well I used to live in the Peak District which was pretty great if a little wet :p, been on hols to Devon which was also fab and drier too!

Thinking of trying the Lake District this year so if anyone has suggestions of Dog friendly holiday cottages / places to go i'd be interested to hear of them too :)
