Spit That Out

Hi
My dog has got the runs. He's a 15 year old lab x that last night didn't even try and wake us up (normally squeaks in the night if needs the loo) and had an accident in the dining room, living room and again in the upstairs bathroom.
Poor little mite didn't even want to go for a walk this morning and just stayed in his downstairs bed
I've made sure someone has been with him all day as he always looks so upset if he has an accident even though it's not his fault and can't help having an upset tummy.
Since his 2 accidents in the night he's since been in the garden 3 times for a poop and he was very gassy (loud farts) and straining to push out runny poop.
He hasn't been fed anything different to normal but I'm worried about my little man as he hasn't drunk much water.
We've taken all his food and any treats/biscuits that were lying around away and we were going to give his tummy a rest for 24hrs.
He's been sleeping allot today.
He's got a wet nose and seems a bit more perky this afternoon.
Do you think i should make him a cup of tea (his treat) so he's drinking something?
Tomorrow i was going to feed him chicken and rice as that's quite bland.
Am i doing the right thing or do you think i should take him to the vet?
