I have five dogs, four of which are fed predominantly raw. However, the one which isn't fed raw is fed on good old Chappie plus rice/boiled eggs/mashed potato since feeding her raw (which she loves!!) causes her to "explode" in a VERY liquid fashion, usually overnight on the utility room floor! Someone has suggested I try adding NAF Digestion to her diet; has anyone else tried this and with what result? OR can anyone recommend an additive to aid her tummy problem? (As a puppy, she spent a night at the vet's on a drip with severe colitis - very poorly puppy indeed although she is now two years old, very active and healthy but still very prone to tummy problems!)

How long have you tried feeding her RAW for?

Chappie is just about the worst stuff to feed a dog and any food you can switch her to will be better than that.

Have you tried james well beloved or similar?

OMG....... Chappie bad?

I always thought it was ok & "easily digestable" (it says so on the tin) & I use it cos it's supposedly good for sensitive dogs?

mine has a 1/3 tin on top of dried,

& she has a dicky tum,

I'd almost call it IBS

hmmm....so perhaps it's chappie causing dicky tum all along....

my dogs are fed chappie, Chimo has a bad tummy on the other foods, tried James wellbeloved - including the wheat free one at nearly £40 a sack! we tried burns, Science diet , and Royal Canin. the vets and other people have recommended chappie for easy digestion and we find this the best tummy wise. They both ahve lovely shiny coats and are very happy to eat it.

My dogs' raw diet is predominently chicken - carcasses and wings etc - they love it and Ruby loves it too, but for her "funny tummy"! When they don't get raw, they have Dodsons & Horrells Chudley Working Mix, but they aren't too keen and there's a lot of half empty bowls! As for Chappie - can anyone tell me of a website which slates it? When I visited a dog at the vet, it was fed on Chappie, and like I said, it's the one and only thing that doesn't upset Ruby's very sensitive tum! I'm very open to advice here but no-one has responded to my question re: NAF Digestion! Has NOBODY tried it?????

Yup - only said to my daughter this evening that Ruby (dog in question with "funny tummy") has a lovely coat! Chappie.....................?????? Need to find out what's so terrible about Chappie!

I know quite a few vets who feed their dogs Chappie... They tend to read lables, and obviously have access to a wide selection of options.

That said, being as it's dog food, whatever is in it, it can't be much worse than what dogs (or at least Labradors) put in their own stomach if they are far enough out of reach to get away with it (poo, rotting animals, rotting fruit, the contents of the bin, chips, grass, slugs)

Ive never come across anyone saying chappie is rubbish:confused: i know alot of dogs on it and thay look so well :) Mother in law has just put her whippet on it as abit of extra food on a morning and he is doing well. He is normally fed on wagg sensitive as nothing agrees with him. Can you give me a link please for whats in it as ive had a quick look and can only find people saying how good it is. Thanks x

Jakey has a very sensitive stomach, he will only eat Science Plan Hill's Low Allergen H/D. It's quite expensive but cheaper than gastroenteritis call outs every other week!

I can't find the site right now because mine just switches to the american site but its like dogfoodanaylsis.co.uk or something.

Just look at the ingredents its got wheat in it for starts which dogs are not suppose to have. They can't digest it.

Dogs on chappie poop for england that proves enough.

Chappie will be of the 80% water, 4% meat 4% rice tinned food type. If you like to feed BARF, I would suggest you try a different meat protein for your sensitive dog - I think Chappie is fish so go with that, we sell it in 400G frozen blocks.

Sorry, can't help with the NAF product!
