13/14 week old puppy of dubious origins (we have had him for 5 weeks now).

Had a Milbemax when we got him = lots of roundworm in poo for a few days.

Just been for his vaccinations and next dose of wormer. Vet confirmed that he had fleas as well. She gave us Advocate to give him 48 hours after vaccinations. She also gave us his next dose of Milbemax. However, reading the leaflet, it seems that advocate is also a wormer not just a flea treatment so surely he doesn't need a Milbemax as well?

Older dog been treated with her dose of Advocate already. She's 10, not been flea treated for about 5 years, never been itchy, never seen a flea or egg or poo... Thanks, puppy! :p

I would call your vet to clarify - Advocate covers roundworm but not tapeworm. It's also not usually used in conjunction with Milbemax as you'd be doubling up on the moxidectin element, it's usually used with just a praziquantel tapewormer. But please ask the person who prescribed it. :)

Thanks that's confirmed my suspicions. Will call the vet tomorrow or Friday. We saw a locum today as mine was ill, but would rather speak to mine. He had tapeworm treatment on last Milbemax 4 weeks ago but who knows how many slugs he's eaten since then :p
