I have never used boots, so can't recommend! I've always bandaged the foot if there have been any injuries on the pads or nails. I pop a bit of cotton wool between the toes to prevent swelling, then wrap the foot & part of the leg with cotton wool or gamgee, then wrapped with vetwrap securely using a figure of eight at the foot end & bandage up part of the leg. When the dog goes outside I use gaffer tape or a small plastic bag taped on to waterproof the bandage!
The problem is he is scuffing his paw along the ground when he walks thus grazing part of his right behind his pads (just the one foot) I have been using a baby sock with some vetwrap over it.. Might just stick with this!
Mikki boots tend to as they have laces - however I have had a few customers whose dogs they just won't stay on!! they have rubber soles and laces.
A baby sock and vetwrap is probably your best (and cheapest!) option though, or try an adult sock and wrap it up to his elbows!!
Off topic but when our GSD had sores on her elbow and pressure points we made her a set of trousers from the arms and back off a fleece - we attached a bra strap to each arm, threaded her legs through the arms and fastened the bra clip over her back! I wish I'd have got a picture of it!
