I need to buy my lab a coat as he is a total wimp and stands in the middle of the yard shivering when it's cold and refuses to go out when it's raining

Can anyone recommend a 'manly' looking coat for him? It needs to be waterproof, padded (but not too thick) and able to do up tight around the tummy so he can't wee on the straps. He's only a little chap (18 - 19 inches) and all the water proof, 'proper dog' coats seem to start at 22 inches with the smaller ones being the dog dress up Paris Hilton kind...

Have you tried ebay? Just bought 2 14 inch coats from there for my mini daxie pup, now he is hard to find a coat for! They were red quilted ones and not too silly. But there seemed to be a good choice.

Have a look at this site;

They do fantastic dog coats. I have one that is like waxed coat material. It is waterproof and you can get the with a lining in aswell. Its called the Challenger dog coat. Looks smart and pratical. It looks a manly coat for your chap but they start at 20inches.

I have one for my dog and I would highley recommend.

I bought a weathabeeta one for my JRT today. It was 14" (start from 12") and was waterproof with padded lining and two velcro straps. Mine is a sort of purple check but came in plain navy as well.

We're going to enlarge our searching grounds this weekend - the three countrywide stores only have waterproof ones starting at 24" and Pets at home is usless... We did find one in a local petshop for £55!!!!! I have horse rugs which have cost less than that!! Curse Paris Hilton - I blame all doggy clothing price increases on her
