Anyone had any experience of this?

I am assuming this is what beau had. After my heart attack a couple of weeks ago, he has improved now quite alot after rest etc.
Then when it happened again (he lay down on a hard surface for a long time and then gets up he is either slightly lame or holds a leg up) my housemate (also a vet student) started palpating his back legs, and noticed that the muscles on the inside of the lame leg was really REALLY tight!!! So we think its this which is causing him to be lame, and its just so much like cramp as when we massaged it and the muscle relaxed he was fine again....

anyone else ever experienced this? if so how did you sort it?

thanks!

Leah gets this occasionally - she will limp on one forepaw and you can see that the toes on the sore paw are all splayed out where the muscle has spasmed. To be completely honest, I don't worry about it too much - it only happens once or twice a year, she doesn't seem to be distressed by it and it lasts a couple of minutes at most, so I'm not worred. If it happens regularly though, I'm told that a tablespoon of cider vinegar in their dinner works wonders for cramp. We give it to all the horses at the RS who every get stiff muscles, and the yard manager takes it for leg cramps too so it evidently works on several different species!

ahhh ok, cider vinegar for cramp..... never heard of it! cool worth a try

ye he is never bothered by the lameness, like it isnt sore or anything, but obv feels odd when he gets up!
