I have two energetic young dogs. My OH is a fisherman and goes off twice a week for the day and I have horses and work part time so two days a week they are left in our house from 10.30am to 6pm with only a half hour break when my daughter comes to let them out in the garden. Then on Thursdays I go out to an exercise class more or less straight after work so they are on their own for ten hours or so with only a couple of short breaks in between
I was thinking, if it was affordable, it would be great if they could go off to someone else's house for the day.
My daughter has no facilities for dogs, I mean her garden isn't secure and she has two young children to look after, OH says he's not allowed to take dogs where he fishes, and we have no suitable neighbours to ask.
Is there such a service anywhere?

Yes, Doggy Daycare is becoming more and more popular.
I would definitely get references and make sure they *know* dogs - I do know someone who runs this service, he collects and transports the dogs, takes them for walks, lets them mingle, he has an indoor agility course etc. However I would not leave my dog with him as he can be a bit of an arse with other dogs and he would probably eat the nice shiny agility equipment and steal all the balls :p

Why do you need to go to an exercise class if you have two energetic young dogs :p
While I am not a huge fan of dogs running amok at yards :p there any facility for them to go to the yard with you?

Unfortunatly not always, the vet was there last night when I got there examining a horse so they had to stay in the car :(
But it's still a long time for them to be shut in before I get home from work and then they're shut in again for another hour or so. Does anyone know of any creches in the West Yorks area please?

Oops, apologies!

In in the interim (and I will probably get flamed for this) I would not beat yourself up too much, it's three days out of seven, most of us have to work in order to afford dog ownership in the first place, as long as they are suitably stimulated/exercised/trained on either side of the working day and they have each other for company then I wouldn't worry too much. It's a lot better than some dogs get.
Are there any dog walkers in the area that could come to your house and walk them from there?

I'm just looking into this as I want a dog but work full time. Ours is £10 a day which is doo able a couple of times a week but I couldn't afford it every day.

I'd be interested to know what other Full timers do?

My two get a 45 minute walk each end of the day and have a dog flap....at least 3 times a week my parents take them out during the day. Not ideal but I start uni in September so they'll get a bit more human time in the day. ...they dont seem that bothered!

As mentioned long as they are exercised and stimulated on either side of the working day and are kept in a suitable environment (ours have a kennel run outside so they can get fresh air and see what's going on around them rather than spending the day looking at the same four walls) and are content enough then I don't see a problem with having a dog and working.
