doggy daycare?

I know a lot of people now offer dog/pet sitting,dog walking etc as a business as i was looking into doing it myself.

I also thought about childminding and whilst exploring this someone said they knew some one who ran a nursery/childminded but from a big warehouse type place...

It got me thinking and im.just puttingvout an idea to see what people think :)
Doggy daycare-dogs can get dropped off or we pick up at a big house/warehouse with land. Dogs can be fed if needed(ie. Puppies)... Dogs would get to go outside for a run and play and inside would be everything a dog could want.

Agility equip,digging pits,toys etc and peoples dogs can be looked after and have company all day long. Only stipulation would be dogs have to be friendly towards other dogs.
Also in winter when its dark/rainy people can take their dogs there in evenings to exercise them without getting wet/cold/walking in dark!

Do you think people would be interested? How much would you pay for this? :)
 
There are a few places around us that do this, prices vary, the one that my friend used a few times is £15+vat for the day (8am to 3pm), dog could be picked up (£2.50 + £0.30 per mile), or there was also a 'bus' option, for your money they would get a structured walk and all day in the 'creche' with toys beds etc, they would be taken to the vet for vaccinations, taken to the groomers for baths. They also don half days which were 8am - 12pm and 12pm to 4pm which were £10 + vat, you had to pay extra for trips to the vets etc, discounts for block bookings and/or more than 1 dog, I'll PM you the website so you can have a look.
There was another site that I had looked at who actually done a pack for people looking to start up (£249+vat for the pack), don't know if it would be worth it.
 
My local kennels do day care/creche also at £8 per day but its only 9-5pm with no flexibility in drop off or pick up times so i have never used it as if i did it would because i was away for the day it would be over these times. I even offered to pay extra but they were not interested. I have used my dog trainer for individual days when stuck but she is £20 per day so expensive but he does get more attention there than at a kennel facility. Fortunately only had to do it twice in last 9 months so not too bad. (thank god for parents for love dog sitting for free :D)
 
Good idea but how you would make a profit I have no idea. You see you would need a lot of dogs and a few staff for the warehouse idea. A lot of kennels do it as they already have the facilities and usually what they do is a walk or play and then put them back into the kennels.

You also might have to work hard to get a licence. I know a kennel that has had a terrible time recently as people have complained about barking. They now only accept quiet dogs.

The one that I mentioned is on a farm and probably already had the buildings and defo had the land, they are license by the council and also off a lot more services (they have a resident dog groomer, sell high end foods, dog walking, boarding etc).
Think you asked on the NL post how you would find out if people are interested, think these people progressed from dog walking business (which they still offer), maybe start off with a dog walking business for a couple of years and then progress?
 
Do you have your own premises as I think this will make a huge difference into whether the figures stack up.
 
Dylan is going to go one day a week. Its £11 plus £2 to pick up and drop off, so £13 all in. Its in a house, and they are very flexible with times. Hes going 10.30am to 7pm, and he will get 2 walks in that time. There are places that are a little bit cheaper, but I prefer him to be in a house environment
