Doggy is lame,any ideas?.

My one year old border collie is limping,it is not all the time but mainly in walk on hard ground.I have tried to check pads,betwwen toes as best i can with a wriggling,trying to lick you to death 12 month old dog.I have also tried to feel both front legs,shoulders but cannot seem to find any soreness or lumps and bumps.I'm worried that he might have something horrible like arthritis..Any ideas please.
 
Has there been lots of hooning aorund recently? maybe just tweaked something?

Yes he was one year old last friday.He is always hooning around and turning on a sixpence.But it's abit weird as he is fine most of the time but on hard ground he limps.He is not stiff in the mornings and is eating and drinking fine.No yelping or discomfort.
 
My GSD youngster (14 months) has twice lamed herself whilst hurtling round the field. First time took a couple of weeks of on lead exercise (not easy) for her to come sound. I was so paranoid I had her elbows x rayed but came back clear. She then went lame again on the other leg, but this time came sound after a few days lead exercise. Probably worth your vet just checking him over, but hopefully he will soon be right again. Unfortunately if he has pulled something it is important not to let him charge round at all, Evie was literally in garden on lead to do the necessary and back in the house. Drove her and us mad but when they are young and nutty they can do themselves damage so easily. Fingers crossed he is soon back to normal.
 
This might sound daft but there are a couple of dogs at our club who don't like walking on stones or hard ground, think they have sensitive pads or something.
Never come across it myself before? Maybe pop him to the vets if he doesn't improve over the next few days.
 
I have just pinned the dog down and had good look,he seems to be quite swollen around well if he was a horse it would be the fetlock,he tried to pull away from me and its quite hot.Could this be a sprain?,even though the limping comes a goes?.
