What do you use in the house to prevent dog smells? The dogs themselves don't smell but when I get home and open the door I get a wiff of dog! I am not keen on the plug ins. Any ideas?

Ive just bought a steam cleaner and have been steaming everything within an inch of its life. My sofas, chairs are all covered with washable throws and they go in the wash twice a week, I use Lenor fabric conditioner and it helps makes the room smell nice.

i struggle with doggie smells too!! i've been opening the front door at lunchtime/evening and getting a whiff of dog. I have throws on the sofas that get washed weekly, rugs that get hoovered, and wooden floors that get mopped obsessively! I am going to tackle the house with a deep clean this weekend!! Anyone want to recommend a steam cleaner?

I bought mine from QVC shopping channel but bought on line, its the H20 Mop X5 and comes with lots of attachments. Ive steamed all my carpets, my vinyl floor has never looked cleaner and its cleaned my flagstones. With one of the attachments it cleaned my sofas, chairs and freshened up my curtains. In the bathroom its cleaned all the grouting and Ive only had it 10 days but am well pleased.

You can buy them secondhand on ebay, I paid £88 including postage from QVC.

Lovescobs- I do ironing for a lady who had a polti steam cleaner with the iron attachment, she has had two now, the 1st one melted all the plastic underneath, and the second one caught fire setting her wooden floor alight!! on closer inspection the underneath had melted again, so please keep an eye on yours!!
Was a shame as they are fantastic.

No problems like that with mine and my friend has one with no issues yet either. I'll make sure I keep an eye on it, thank you
