Hi I dont normaly post in here but I was hoping you could offer some advice.

My friends wee doggy has thrush on her chin and lady bits, she has been to the vet loads and tried lots of stuff but it just wont clear up.

So far they have tried canestan, hibiscrub, maliseb, yoghurt.

Anybody any suggestions. Thanks.

Is the vet absolutely sure it is trush . I only ask as years ago I had a bearded collie that had a bad cut on his paw . Took him to vet , usual antibiotics etc . He kept licking and got a rash on his leg and had such a rash in his mouth he couldn't eat . Back to vets ( as you do!!) who said it was thrush , another antibiotic jab . Got worse , dog could hardly swallow , back to vets again ! Steroids and more antibiotics and appointment to bring in next day for lots of tests . Next day I saw the young vet when I dropped him off and on looking at him he said it was an allergy to the BLOODY antibiotics !!! And you know what he was right . The young vet was a skin specialist and took Sneaks picture ( or his gob anyway!) for a book he was writing .

I have no experience of thrush but if the vet can't come up with something better perhaps a second opinion is in order .

Ask the vet about oral medication combined with a topical treatment. Thrush can sometimes be a symptom of another underlying condition, so that will need to be investigated too.
