Does anybody have any experiences of it? My Golden Retriever has a skin tumour on his tail and has to have chemo to shrink it down to a more removable size due to its location. Vets at Leahurst have been over it and are quite optimistic but it would also be helpful to hear of other dog owners experiences.
Thanks

I read this earlier and as I have never had my own pet to undergo chemo, I didn't reply. However, I have had a couple of my clients dogs come in that have been undergoing chemo with success. I had envisioned dogs with no hair (and why on earth would they be coming to a dog groomer if they had none??) but surprisingly, they still had full coats. But the two or three dogs that I've known to get chemo did remarkably well.

I suppose with your dog as the tumor is on the tail that if necessary they tail could be docked. Probably not necessary at the moment and a bit of overkill, but just a thought.

Hope your boy is well. Vibes on the way.

Thankyou! I dont think that dogs loose hair in the same way that we do. He seems ok today after his first dose yesterday. I'm not sure if they can dock his tail as its right at the top and they cant take any more off as there wouldn't be enough skin to stitch up. He does look like a badly trimmed poodle at the moment as he has the bottom half of his tail shaved and the end is still fluffy!
