dogs and garlic

i feed garlic granuals to my pony, can i give it to my dogs gsdXkelpie. i was thinking 1 tea spoon a day in her food... is garlic ok or not for dogs?

It's fine in small amounts. You'd need to be feeding a hell of a lot to poison a dog.

Only in large amounts, it is well known as a parasite deterrent and was mentioned by the herbalist Juliette de Bairacli Levy in her herbal handbook for dogs published way back in the 1950s

Yes I know it can be used for things like coprophagia too but it can be toxic as you said in larger amounts so best to be carefull.

My lot regularly have leftover spaghetti bolognese, which includes copious amounts of garlic (it's good, I just cook too much! honestly) and never had problems.

I always feed my dogs garlic, they get a clove of it in any food cooked and about half a teaspoon over their food if they are having raw, I never have problems with fleas or ticks
