Was just wondering what everyone does with their dogs when they go on holiday. Am thinking of going on holiday in december but was wondering what would be best for my girlie. I know she would not be happy in a kennel so was wondering if there are any other options.

I have 3 dogs, a cat and 3 horses so for us it is far better to have a house sitter who looks after the lot. 4 leggeds all know and like her so us being away is far less traumatic for them as they are in familiar surroundings. Also it is nice to know your property is being looked after.

IMHO it is best to either get a friend to "House and Dog sit" or for them to have him in their home. just be sure the dog really knows them especially if they have other dogs.
I have done "dog sitting" for a friend and it worked well as the dogs were settled and happy because they were in a familiar setting.
I don't go abroad for hols so take mine with me. Sad aren't I?

There are really good kennels out there, u just have to search them out, or u can place them in home boarding, not many around, except me

or someone in your home, many people don't like that choice, as don't want strangers in their home.

do as I do, use your mam

If I'm going abroad I use pet sitters. I used to use one that had my dog to stay at her house, however more recently I have used sitters that have stayed at my house. I think my dogs are more settled that way.

It costs an arm and a leg, but at least I can relax on my holiday and not worry that the dogs are missing me!

Generally though we holiday in the UK, mainly Cornwall, where the dogs can come and have fun too.
