Having lived with a dog for 6 years that would not go out in the rain or even if it had stopped raining and the ground was wet, since taking on Clumber spaniel, who will go out in anything, original dog has now decided that whither he goest I will go even if its bucketing down ! I would have preferred it if the Clumber had taken his cue from oldie !

Also how do two dogs seem to manage to block up four doorways at once ?

My Staffords will go out in all weather except the boy who is fussy. However, they won't go out naked in the rain...all sporting lightweight hi viz this am!

On the wet and muddy front, anyone used a doggie waterproof onesie ? May have to resort to one in the winter for spaniel
as hes a mud magnet. How do they wee through it though ?Cant see any info on websites

Can you share snuffles? Our lakeland is a muck magnet too...

Mrs Spaniel HATES the rain. She will hide if she sees me getting the lead out or lies down and I have to literally drag her down the road. She shoots me evil looks and clearly blames me for the weather.

These are meant to be amazing

Really want them for my boys, but so expensive.

I have the equafleece dog suit. I put them on when they come in wet from a walk. They are great

Thanks so much galaxy - they look fab :)

My Lakeland cross is a real mucker. . She has spent the whole summer jumping in and out of the horses water troughs in the fields, and her fave walk has a muddy bog hole she wallows in :(

The airedale has a drizabone wax jacket (with handy pockets for carrying his own poop filled baggies) that keeps the worst of the wet off. Microfibre towels are amazing. Airedale is kind of waterproof anyway but the coat saves the house from the wet!
Looks very smart but isn't thick as he has plenty of hair to keep warm. You can get a wool lined one though for dogs that get chilly! (in the hats section of their website I think)

He's not a massive fan of the rain so chooses to stay in but will go out for a walk happily, just not in his own free time during the day!

Our three will happily lay outside in the rain even if there is an option to be undercover. They all live out and never go inside a house. They are working dogs and are generally free to wander where they wish. I think they would be uncomfortably hot if they were to be house dogs, I suspect it is what you get use to?

My beagle thinks she is basically allergic to water, and will hold her bladder for hours to avoid peeing in the rain, she avoids mud and if she gets muddy it just falls off anyway very quickly. She quite enjoys a bath or shower in a nice warm bathroom in warm water
My springer is nicknamed Bogdog. Need I say more! She is a mud and water magnet and yet when confronted with a bath she develops an aversion to water that most cats would envy.

My two arnt keen on the rain but will go out. The gundog however won't go through mud or puddles on a walk and hates walking on the wet grass in the garden!!! Fine out shooting!! The jrt on the other hand makes a point of zooming through the puddles!!

My greyhound needs forcibly removing from the house in wet weather!!!!! She has a large collection of coats to wear out and fleecy jumpers to wear once home!!

LOL that sounds awfully familiar :D :D Except I am mean - my lot have one coat (a Blizzard each) and they hardly ever wear them....except for my eldest Islay who is spoiled rotten..... :)

My two are spoiled rotten and hate the rain!

If pushed, they will give a half-hearted show of OK-lets-humour-the-old-gal routine when I go out to do the horses - then usually do their poo's in one of the stables and find somewhere to sit in out of the rain till I've done all the chores, and do their best "pathetic waifs left in the rain" look in the hope they'll be allowed back inside again.

I didn't realise, until I got one, that setters have long noses for a reason. A lengthy snout makes it possible to stretch ones head out of an open door, feel raindrops, then retreat at high speed to the sofa without being drowned...

Old collie totally refuses point blank to go outside in the rain. If I put my trainers on and get poo bags this generally causes much excitement... Unless it's raining in which case she slinks off to bed and hides her face. 😂 It's hilarious but I don't feel bad about not doing much in awful weather!

My lot go out rain or shine but then they are all working type dogs. I put a fleece jumper/rug on them before they come back in the house otherwise they shake and spray mud up the walls!

ha ha! sounds familiar-I used to have to drag mine out. Staffy cross wasnt much of one for rain either. Retriever, so far, seems unfased but hasnt yet encountered sideyways, freezing cold stuff.

Our collie doesn't want to suffer alone. He won't go into the garden to have a wee if it's raining unless you go with him!
