Help!

My dog gets walked every day for a hour or two gets a good run morning and night on the road and on grass.
but still the claw on the side of the paw keeps curling round

any ideas or is this normal??

any advice

thanksxxx

Trim it, or if you're not confident enough to then get your vet to do it for you. If it is a dew claw, then it is normal for it not to be worn down, it has to be trimmed. If it is one of the main claws then it should be worn down with the rest of them. My dog's outside toe is deformed, so her claw doesn't touch the ground (it looks like a velociraptor claw - it sticks straight upwards, bless her) and doesn't wear down. I trim it when it requires it and she's fine.

i have to do my dogs.she doesnt do much road work,(usually in the fields)and her claws dont all touch the ground.
she doesnt like it much but every few week i will do one a day till they are done and she has a little treat after.
she`s very good really.

You can buy nail cutters from most pet shops, but I would advise you to get a Groomer , Vet or someone experienced to show you how and where to trim it! Dew claws are often troublesome if not removed within the first couple of days.
If you cut the quick, the nail will bleed copiously........ and your dog will become wary of letting you trim the nails!
Potassium Permanganate crystals, ground to dust are the best for stopping bleeding!
