Does anyone have any suggestions for a breed that would be good in a small apartment? We were going to adopt a lab/akita mix from the animal shelter but its just too big for the space and wouldn't be fair for the dog. Any suggestions?

My cousin just got a papillion for his daughter (v spoiled me thinks). Not my dog of choice but it's actually quite sweet. Maybe something like that would suit?

What sort of dog do you want? If you want active/one you could work with but small, my first choice would be miniature Schnauzer. If you want small, happy companion Tibetan Spaniel, Cavalier King Charles Spaniel. If you want something that doesn't need much room indoors but are almost like a big dog once you go out, both Finnish Lapphund and Norwegian Buhund could be worth a look, f. ex. if they get proper exercise most days, then you get a cold and they get minimal exercise for a few days, if they have some good bones to gnaw on, even 7 months puppies usually handles it without getting destructive or climbing the walls.

from Sweden.
