Just had a post on fb that the Telford police and RSPCA have found a large number of dogs on a travellers site in Telford believed stolen in Derbyshire, Staffs. Shrops. and other areas. They include 6 huskies, springers, sprockers (?) and of course staffies. I know there have been quite a number of dogs stolen around here (shrops.) recently, apparently some of the dogs are micro-chipped ! Perhaps you could post on fb pages please. I don't have many fb friends so I'm not too useful :)

The site is certainly there and they have a large number of dogs tethered including huskies. Whether any have been confirmed as stolen and/or recovered is another matter.

It's next to the service station; I stopped off there for fuel the other day on the way back from training with the dog in the car, saw the huskies tethered on the verge and carried on back round and powered through the fuel warning light to the next petrol station, to my shame. Was not going to leave my dog in the car on the forecourt in full view of the site.

Maybe straying off topic, pardon the pun, but isn't this a salutory lesson in why it might be best not to trust a breed born to run and run far, off the lead, if they might end up in a situation like that. Some FB pages I follow are full of ads for lost huskies :(
And also to microchip/tatoo/identify the hell out of your animals.

There are a LOT of sibes in that area now. OH's mum found one a few months back wandering down the middle of the very busy road outside her house, along with a very nasty snappy yellow lab. She popped them in the car port while she phoned me and the dog warden. Owner turned up five minutes before the dog warden did, having driven past and spotted them. She said they'd been gone for three hours and had travelled some four miles from where she lost them. No collars, tags or chips.

She then proceeded to unlock the car port and go walking off down the road with them - no leads! - MIL chased them down the road proffering a spare lead but it was declined. They hadn't gone 50 yards before one of the dogs had darted across the road in front of a car, narrowly avoiding being hit, while she screamed bloody murder at it.

I had the *RAGE* that day, I tell you. And without any ID I wouldn't have let them go, she would have had to wait and pay the dog warden for the privilege. Though given the area it probably wouldn't have been worth having my head kicked in for. :o

FB hoaxes happen for a variety of reasons, spam, spreading viruses, stoking up hatred against travellers/immigrants etc. If I see the 'nails in cheese/sausages' one again...the dog with it's face blown off by a firework....the dog injured saving two girls from being killed....remember the pre-Facebook rumour about the kid going missing in Tesco/TK Maxx and being found in the toilets having its head shaved by **insert ethnic minority of choice** and it's definitely true because Sharon that I went to school with's sister was working on the checkout the day it happened.....

(My earlier comment relates to Blackcob's factual account of tethered huskies she saw with her own eyes)

Yep, the site exists and there are a lot of dogs there but it's happily a load of boswelox that they are all stolen. I saw two huskies but the vast majority were small terriers of various types, all individually staked out on chains with access to a plastic kennel each. There's been a lot of muttering on FB about it, people calling the RSPCA because the dogs, along with some tethered ponies, were outside like that in the snow and so on.

Still wasn't going to stop the car there. :o

As CC says, there are so many ads for lost huskies, mals etc - do not let these dogs off the lead!!! They are bred to run, and be independent, and free thinking, - however well trained they are, one day they won't come back. Is it really worth it?

I don't blame you, BC, for driving by - I would have done the same, and in fact never leave mine unattended in the car (as they would destroy it lol). Call me paranoid!
