My friend sadly lost one of her dogs two months ago to arthritis leaving behind a Jack Russell on his own.
She let him see his friend when she had passed away and he followed her to the burial.
She has since been given a life like statue of a Jack Russell and her little dog tries to give it bonios and drops a ball at its feet ( the other dog was a lab cross) .
Would the little fella be helped by getting another dog My friend is against this because of the pain she still feels, but I feel sad for the little dog.
Any advice please ?

Like us he needs time. Dylan went really lost and timid when we put will down. Dylan was only 8 months but obviously had grown very attached to him. Teal, Wills son aged 4 didn't seem too worried he kinda just knew.

My heart breaks for Bingo, Poor little fella. It's a close friend so I'm tempted to just turn up with a pup, friend is very soft where animals are concerned.

Our bitch was very depressed after our dog died. She didn't get out of her bed for hours and hours on end(had to be heavily persuaded to go out to toilet),wouldn't play, stopped guarding/barking and became clingy when with us. She was like that for about 2-3wks and then each of these symptoms gradually lessened with time. (She's 10yrs old,as was our dog). We did start to panic a bit, thinking we had to get another dog asap but she's actually settled down now. She does see/have the company of my sister's dogs quite often,so is not totally alone but we noticed that she can 'take or leave' their company-depends on her mood! She really disliked them for a period after George died(having previously been friendly with them) as if to say 'Get lost, you won't do-leave me alone,I want George back.' Several months on,she's coping ok. So,I'd say don't rush in (and I wouldn't advocate buying another dog for yr friend, even if she is soft,as she might be having several thoughts/ideas about what she wants to do now - I know we changed our mind a lot in the first 2 or 3 mths:-/ ). Hope little JR picks up-am sure he will,he's just feeling the 'gap' still at the mo. Take him to meet some doggy friends:)
