Dogs prone to chewing and separate anxiety....

Been doing research into different breeds and wondered what people thought would be the breeds more likely to chew and suffer separation anxiety...I realise that each dog is different but it's quite interesting reading through the different traits of different dogs....

From personal experience, I would say Weimaraners!

Beagles!!! Lovely, lovely dogs but very prone to seperation anxiety and chewing - also recall is not their best feature! Bt are lovely pets and very loyal!

I've heard that boxers aren't great on their own either....I know I'm being very annoying with all these posts but want to make an informed decision!

I can second that weimaraners are rubbish at being left along, and will chew all day long.

Puppy staffs are buggers for eating anything and everything, inc socks, dummys, underwear, as are boxers

Huskys suffer pretty bad anxiety esp when kept as solitary dogs, also labs can be renound for their destruction, this is the most common breed we get through our rescue for destruction problems, of course the ones that come to us get bog all in the way of exercise and stimulation.

As you suggest there is a massive variation and cause of route problem.

Labs for chewing. Fine with the separation, but will chew and eat anything! Especially when pups

I've heard that about baby staffs too - hence the reason I think we'll go for one that's 1+!!!

I havent found Boxers to suffer from seperation anxiety as yet ( haver had two so far ) but i will agree that as puppys they do tend to like discarded underwear

Siberian Huskies definitely do and Inuits would suffer from seperation anxiety if left completely on their own for long periods of time.

I think the whole chewing thing is more to do with feeding. If they can do what comes natural to them i.e chew bones I find they won't chew the furniture!!!

I'm told labs are terrible for chewing??? Also neighbours cocker spans were aswell.

I'd say Inuits are bad, many owners I have spoken to have had problems, and you all know how bad Dante was, the worst they can get, but I have been told Weims are prone and huskies as well as.

Dante's problems wasnt anything to do with feeding, you could leave a 20lb steak on the floor and he would still chew the walls, sometimes it can be hard to distinguish the difference between pure boredom and SA, with SA nothing else in the world matters except for getting your human back home.

I read a story about a lab suffering from SA and it started chewing it's leg off!
