Last night my 15 month old son had a seizure. Cara (my dog) sat by his door and cried she alerted us and knew something was wrong.

We spent a night in hospital and they think it is because of a virus. Never been so scared in my life he is home now so hopefully he will be ok now!

When we arrived home I let cara out for a wee before getting little one out And she ran and sat by his car door. When I got him out she licked his feet and seemed genuinely relieved to see him.

It has amazed me and I just can't get over how she behaved. So pleased to have my little boy back in his own bed!

Copious amounts of wine to All that made it this far! :)

Bless her, what an absolute star, thank god you have her, so glad your little one is home safe and sound but what a terrifying time you had. Dogs are truly amazing and your dog must love your son very much.

Hugs for you and your son, and hope he gets better soon. When I came home after a week post op, my two seemed determined to burst my stitches, and were forever nudging me in the stomach!

Because I love them both so much!

I'm guessing what your little boy had was a febrile convulsion due to a sudden rise in temperature? My older son had them and I know I had many a sleepless night whenever he was poorly with the usual childhood illnesses. I guess his first one was when he was around 18 months and he had several afterwards, but none after he was around 5 years old. He's nearly 16 now and probably doesn't even remember them. I think the number is around 1 in 10 children and they are more common in boys. But amazing that your dog picked up on it. Hope your little chap is better soon, but have a chat with your GP/HV if you are at all worried, and remember that they are very common. xx

I had bad stomach cramps last week and was doubled up on top of the bed feeling like death warmed up. The two seven month old pups, who are real jack the lad types, not ones for excessive petting or being treated as child substitutes (although I try!) each came and curled up against me so that their bodies were pressing into my stomach. I relaxed, and the spasms went.
Once they saw I was ok, they went back to beating each other up:)

Clever girl.
Must say well done coping with a baby and a young rottie, do you actually have energy left at the end of the day??

I remember when I had a rupturing ectopic I couldn't sleep because of pain (didn't know what it was at the time) and Dylan was really unsettled and whining at me constantly infact when I went up to bed he wouldn't shut up he whined and cried for a long time I remember.

Then went to hospital and when I got home he just sniffed my belly(post op), and was attached to me for the rest of the day constantly checking my belly.

Some times they just know. Rotties however I feel are very good and communicating but then Dylan is part rottie.

:) it is no trouble at all they are both so good! They are thick as thieves Cara just lays in her bed in the lounge while he plays! She doesn't even lift her head. And little one leaves her be other than being allowed to stroke her (under supervision) and he puts her toys on her bed if he finds them.
She has about an hours walk in the morning and then a quick run around the block in the evening and we try and do short training sessions regularly and normally we go to training on a Sunday!

I just didn't realise how much she really must care about him too! Brings a tear to my eye! x

What a amazing girl, dogs really do have that sense something is wrong.
When i broke my leg my digger was there and my sister had to hold him he watched me taken away then he was really distressed at home and moping around the house and distressed for the week I was in hospital he normally goes crazy when not seen me for ten mins was expecting him to go crazy but he didnt just wanted a cuddle and my boxer stayed home everyday with me till I could get up and more around than when he knew i was feeling better he started going to the yar md again but it was as if he couldnt leave me in the house alone.

oh wow, this gave me a lump in my throat! What a good girl and so glad your little boy is feeling better. My little one is 8 months and i can only imagine how scary this must have been!
