Have imbibed a little alcohol tonight. Tradition dictates that I must have a glass of wine whilst decorating the tree. So I did. But forgot to stop!! Have just finished my latest glass and asked Sage, who was sitting with her head resting lovingly on my knee, to go and refill it. She looked at me adoringly, yawned and wandered off. :p Think she may be telling me I've had enough!! :D

They are useless sometimes eh?! I often ask Flora to get me stuff (like some toast, a drink etc) but she never bloomin does it! Shes only good for fetching slippers, socks, gloves, and various toys...pah! Ungrateful! :p :D
ETS oh and my hat, I taught her that the other day! Tilly of course can retrieve anything out of my fridge but I would be lucky to see it!

Ah Viz I feel that, in light of recent events, the less they retrieve from your fridge the better!! Fortunately this is, sorry was, red wine so no fridge raids required!! :)

I probably could get Flora to retrieve a bottle of red if I spent a few hours teaching her the subject matter but fear my carpets may bear the brunt of the red wine...gah....you cant trust a dog to do anything properly! :p :D

Ah but could she handle the corkscrew? If the answer to that is yes.... then she has a home waiting for her in Cheshire. She'll want for nothing I can assure you! :D

I could try and teach her...in theory I reckon she could but someone would have to hold the bottle?! Maybe I should teach Tills to hold the bottle?! Ah bloomin dogs, dont know why I bother with em, I only got them as cheap labour but quite frankly I'm not sure they are cut out for it :( :p :D

My friend and I used to bring B in for entertainment purposes when we had enjoyed a few glasses of wine - he is VERY clownish and receptive to laughter, which has produced a few faults :o but the more we laughed (at him going behind the telly to see where the voices were coming from, hitting the deck upside-down for instant tickles, jumping up and down on my mother's bed...) the more silly things he would do....it would get quite hysterical...

Errr....CC are you suggesting I may be inebriated? The very fact that I can still spell that word surely is proof that I am not!! But if I were, then spell check would be very handy. :D

Now this is one of the few circumstances where children are more useful than dogs. Is it wrong that by the time my two were about five years old they knew how to pour red wine, without dripping, and overfilling the glass? ;)

nikicb I have never felt in the least bit maternal but I have to say your children do sound exceptionally well trained. I could probably rehome at least one of them. :D

Absolutely not! School is all well and good, but certain things you have to teach at home. At 6 or so I could pour a decent hand-pull (I did have to kind of swing on it to pull it all the way down). I was admittedly advantaged, living in a pub and all. However, correctly pouring wine is a must and can (and should!) be easily taught regardless of easy access to a bar :D

OP, be grateful for the lack of doggy interest. I have to be incredibly careful where I put my wine these days as the pup downs it if he can. And he gets yucky slobber marks on the glass! I'm undecided if this is the final proof that he was born to be a member of our family, or just really soddin irritating :)

Ha, yes I remember the port conversation. Have just finished doing our tree, didn't need that as an excuse to imbibe, started on the vino when x factor came on. Was very mindful of the risks the chocolate decorations could bring, so have eaten the majority, now feeling slightly sick.:p

Ets, Buffy is partial to a glass of red too Pix, she may not be able to see much but her nose is lethal where food and drink is concerned. Most of my dogs have adored Baileys too, lick the glass clean, its quite funny when we have visitors who innocently put their glasses down by their chair. :)

We have port. Neither of us really drink it so it is all yours. Enjoy!! :) You will have to help yourselves as my dogs hosting skills are really crappy!! :p Oh and I have finished the wine and am now on beer! Think I may sleep well tonight.

The oldest one will even get the horses in and poo pick if you ask him nicely. :D But they are probably more expensive to keep than the horses by the time you have to equip them with all the electronic stuff!

I have nothing to add to this thread (as I'm practically a paragon of restraint :p)

However, 1 bottle wine + 1 spangle + heelwork to music routine found on Youtube = a VERY bad idea + loss of any shred of dignity :o

Oh no! I hadn't thought..... I'm partial to a bottle of Bailey's at Christmas, I can see me needing to keep it under lock and key with Loki about  If he's keen on wine and obsessive over coke cola then Bailey's creamy alcoholic goodness will be irresistible to him! :(:D

Ooooh. No problem, he does horses too. Your child was born to live at ours!! :D As for the electronic stuff...hr cannot be more expensive than hubs. :p
