I was having a look at the Dogs Trust website and came accross the Freedom Project and I was wondering if anyone has fostered a dog under these circumstances? Would love to hear about it if you have:)

Thanks

What a wonderful idea, My daughter works for a homeless shelter and the people there are allowed to keep their own dogs on the condition they are deflead and vaxed. Well one of her clients has had to go to a specialist unit for a month for medical care and was not allowed to take their dog. She rang around everyone including the cinamonn trust and no one would take this dog and it looked like this dog would have to go into rescue thats if anyone would take it. There was a strong possibility she would have been put down and this man whose dog it is she is his lifeline. Well to cut a long story short I have fostered her and she is here in the kitchen with me, she has been attacked in the past by other dogs and I can see why because she is so rude. I will put a post up about her later with some pics.

But to go back to the original point of this post there are so few places like this who can take a dog in need for short care foster care so for the dogs trust to be doing this is quite amazing.

A friend mentioned something to me about it a while ago but i never looked into it. Was happily surprised to see it is up and running.

I was thinking about it for my Dad, he has Parkinsons (he does not live alone) and i think it would be a good idea for him to have a dog to get out for a stroll, he is worried about a lifetime commitment so this could be a good compromise:)

I also think it is a very nice thing to be able to do:)

I shall look out for your pics:)

It sounds like it would be very suitable for your dad and as its not such a big commitment hopefully more people will do it.

The photos wont be any day soon as I dont know where the camera is but I have a month.:D

This is a wonderful project! Here in Portugal, my mom has a friend who works for an ONG related to violence against women and children, and they has an issue recently because they rescued a family (mom and two kids, one teen and a toddler) from a violent situation. After they were at the housing complex, the teen started panicking because his dog was still there, so one of the ONG workers went back with a police officer to collect the dog. Meanwhile the dog was an unregistered pit (nobody knew) so the police officer had to take it to the pound for evaluation and possibly euthanasia. It was hell. If an organization like this existed here, this type of situations could be avoided. Pets are part of the family and many people consider them before deciding to leave the violent situation.
