I'm kind of nervous but excited - I'm doing a newcomers class as a pair with a friend who has done Trec before. I am playing it safe and taking my Dad's driving pony (completely unflappable!!!). Any hints and tips from anyone?

Thanks!! I'm just hoping it isn't going to carry on tipping it down tomorrow like it is at the moment

Have fun I'm sure you'll love it. OH did one of these and came second with his friend. He said he would have loved to do this alot more but you have to have all the other gear to carry all the time.

luckily my friend is lending me pretty much all the gear I have to carry - which is good! Even for this newcomers level there is loads of stuff! I don't know where I am going to put it all. Might get a bit of baler twine and tie it round pony's neck to hang stuff from

Hope you have fun....bit too late for tips re obstacles (pony needs to learn what to do, you need to understand how they are scored) and map reading hints (complicated) but have a super time...I love Trec!

I was going to judge at that but I have a family occasion, I have never been to 1 but read about it on their website and it looks really good!
Let us know how you get on!
If its good then I'll try and take Bear to the next 1!!!

Oooh! Thats exciting. i just sent Flo_Bell a PM asking re it as I am very keen to try it, and i didnt know it was down 'ere LOL

I am at Rame.....near Penryn (I work in Redruth some days!)

I would love to have a go at trec..... PBS and I might have a go if we can find a local one....... only problem, Merlin does not see the point of in hand work..... he just drags along behind and I know he would not follow me off drops or up steps or over bridges etc, so fear it may be a disaster!!!

TREC is great fun, I've ridden in some and helped out at others. Let us know how you get on, I think you will love it.
