As title, am looking for a new girth for my mare. She dislikes being girthed (I always do it slowly and gently, and her back and saddle are fine) so I'm looking for one as comfortable as possible and available in a range of sizes, as she only wears a 40" girth despite being 16.2hh. Preferably not costing the earth either.

Recommendations?

This is my favourite girth, I use it on all my horses and they all seem comfortable in it. My bosses horse hates being girthed up but is a lot better with this.

It is so easy just to wipe clean or sling in the wash as it dries virtually straight away!

I can't believe your horse takes a 40" girth

that's the size my 12hh Section A takes!

Yep, Stubben string girths, I have a couple for the ponies and they are brilliant as long as you wash them regularly, and they go down to 38"

I love my Treadstone leather girth. Elasticated BOTH ends, beautiful leather, well padded and soft and wide in the middle. Drama queen toby loves it. He HATED his string girth as it tugged his hair (once) and then behaved like he was being sawn in half when girthed up

I have always used Thorowgood Airoform GP girth but my pony is a hardy native so while it suits him don't know if they're good girths for horses which are sensitive to being girthed but it always seems to be very comfortable for him. Also used Stubben string girth when we had a problem with large summer belly and the saddle was slipping forward when jumping and horsey seems very happy in that girth as well.
