Don Romantic

Hi,

I've only seen what's on the Blue Hors website but I am very impressed with him

His paces are incredible! I am a huge fan of his sire Don Schufro, so when I saw his son I was thrilled.

I am hoping to use him in the future too. Not sure what his temperament is like though. Any info on that would be great.

Here is another HUGE Don Schufro fan.

It was so nice to see him at the Olympics, so many of the stallions are taken out of competition early due to breeding commitments. It says a lot for his temperament to still be doing the 2 jobs so well.

I like the look of Don Romantic, but don't really know much about him

He has an absoloutly lovely temperament in the stable when I met him 3 years ago and good rideability from what I have heard a real sweetie. I would like to see more up to date ridden footage as the one on the website was from their dvd 2007. I dont know what level of work he is doing now with the well discussed issues he has had in the past. I have heard these issues do not effect his breeding levels but not 100%

I have a 2 year old son of Don Romantic (now a gelding). He is out of Hohenstien mare. He was originally bought from Verden elite auction as a foal as a stallion prospect but when I bought him I weighed up my abilities and his future quality of life as a stallion and decided to geld him. His movement is very similar to his dads, almost cat like walk with a really good canter and trot. Here are a few photos that show him now, and a video of his mum and half sister (please PM me for any video of him, I do have some but don't particularly want to put them up on the public forum).

In terms of temperament he is very sweet and is really friendly the more he trusts you and respects you. He is a little cheeky but as long as you are firm with him on things he knows he is very happy. He has a very strong sense of right and wrong and if you tell him off for something he thinks he did nothing wrong for he gets upset but won't if he knows he deserves it, he also is normally very self controlled.

In terms of Don Romantic I think that he still isn't being ridden due to injury but it doesn't seem to be genetic.

Feel free to PM me for any more details.

Thats completely what I heard about him I think his ridden work is on and off from what I heard but I am sure Blue Hors would let you know if you asked them. From what I have heard they do not believe it to be genetic aswell. For me he is one of those stallions who has been lovely to watch since they first sent me there dvd when he was 4 he just has such beautiful movement he is a pleasure to watch.

I dont know if anyone else agrees but your geldings strong sense of right and wrong etc etc sound like a lot of trakehners I know. I would say it has come through form all those trakehners lines?

thanks everyone thats great i think i will try and use him when i get the chance i think temperament is sooo important as well as having good movement

thanks for that info re don romantic really nice to see his progeny as well. Your boy looks like he's going to be fab, think u prob did right thing re gelding him i think stallions often don't have much of a life. best of luck with him
