Thanks for your help.

Dear Sir/Madam,

I was shocked to hear about the recent cruelty case in Buckinghamshire.
31 horses were found dead, 3 put to sleep and a staggering 84 equines were rescued by huge joint charity effort. A man has been released on bail to appear in court on Monday.

The surviving horses will need care and rehabilitation for months. The cost of the extensive help from vets, dentists, farriers and other professionals, not to mention the time and resources of all the employees and volunteers of the charities involved will be staggering. Over 84 mouths need to be fed. The horse loving community is outraged and many animal lovers want to help.

Donations of feed, rugs and supplies are being organized by ordinary horse owners across the country. Many have given up one a simple pleasure in their lives to donate something to the charities involved. Please could you help the general public to do more?

Perhaps you could donate a small amount of supplies that would be useful to the charities. It could be a bag of feed or supplement or veterinary supplies such as gauze or vetwrap. Maybe it could be a small monetary donation. If you feel that you could help, please find the details of the charities below.

Would you be prepared to coordinate donations from your customers? Please consider placing a collection box by the till for one or all of the charities listed below. I am enclosing a suggestion of wording that you might like to use to explain why you are collecting for this cause.

Thank you for taking the time to read this request. I ask you as a customer to please do whatever you can, no matter how small, to help the charities to cope with this hugely upsetting cause.

If you wish to donate in any way the contact details for the charities involved are as follows;

National Horse Trust www.homeofrestforhorses.co.uk 01494 488464
Redwings www.redwings.org.uk 01508 481000

Suggested sign for your collection box;

We are collecting for the charities that were involved in the recent cruelty case in Buckinghamshire. 31 horses were found dead but 84 were taken into the care of charities who are rehabilitating these animals. The vets bills alone will be staggering. The charities we are collecting for are The National Horse Trust, Redwings & ILPH.
