I have bought a MARE!! After a few horseless months, I have finally found her! She is a dark bay 16hh 6 year old warmblood. Sorry all you mare owners, I have only ever had geldings before, but Lulu is more like a gelding than my last gelding! Am really pleased! Will post pic in Gallery.

I always said Id NEVER buy a mare aswell, then I did and she turned out to be a Night Mare!! Sold her a year later!!

Good luck with yours though!!

I said this when looking for my last horse. Had never had a mare before and didn't really want one. Have now had Alee for just over a year and would never go back to geldings now. She sounds lovely can't wait to see piccies!!

I always said the same until I bought Lily after having a bad experience with 2 mares when I was a teenager, but she was so exceptional I am now converted! I bred a foal from her two years ago and now have the most beautiful filly which I can't wait to start riding next year - fingers crossed she is as good as her mum!

I prefer mares and I have a chestnut TB who lives up to that particular reputation they have

I have to say I probably wouldn't ever have a gelding, I like the bit of spark you tend to get with mares (I'm sure there are geldings like that too but I'm just speaking from personal experience).

Hope you have lots of fun with your new girl

I have bought a mare, who is a bit mare-ish, have had her 5 months and am going to sell, but that's not because of the mare-ish ness, she likes me, I can't really bring myself to like her since she kicked daughter and is just too spooky and excitable. Really she's fine for me but she's supposed to be for my daughter and she's too much for her to handle.

You'd get that with anything I guess. She is not warmblood, I had a dutch warmblood gelding who was nappy, not doing too well lately! *sigh*

Yes, actually am going on Wednesday (forget what day it is) on the Farm Ride with some friends. I havent been before, so looking forward to it! How's May doing? (I am so out of touch!)

That is fantastic news...

I'll go and have a look at the pictures of her now

I would love to do the farm ride, so if you are ever going again could I be cheeky and tag along. I don't fancy going on my own, would rather have some company and no others I know would want to come or those that would do not have transport

Hi B! That would be great, we could have a mini hho ha ha. I shall suss it out for us, then we can go again, no probs! Just remembered, THAT horse is going with us - shall be more careful this time!

Te he... hope you don't end up looking for her all over Somerford

Have a great day with your new girl, hope the weather stays decent for you, but even if it does rain, you'll still have a fab time

Only sensitive riders with feel can have mares. I have three, obviously. I don't need to cut off body parts to subdue them...not like those c**p gelding riding types.

I always siad I wouldn't buy a mare or a grey and my last hosre was both! She was a star though and has definitely converted me to mares, but not sure about another grey!!!
