Is it in the UK? If so, could someone please call the RSPCA and get them prosecuted.
No way will I be watching it :-(

It's horrific and heart wrenching no doubt about it. Was there a better way to dispatch him? Of course and I truly wish they had quickly used their brains to come up with a better plan.
I want you all to consider a few key points though. I have read many comments about this asking why the onlookers just stood back and did nothing and that it somehow made them sick bastards. Another one is why they simply did not just shoot the donkey.
If you read the article it tells you that there was a fear the donkey had rabies. If you watch the video the donkey is indeed acting very strangely and in a manner that would greatly concern me. Those who refuse to watch it may want to just watch the first few seconds to see what the donkeys behavior is like and tell me what you think.
It was loose within the public in what looks like a very populated area. I am aslo left to wonder if this is why they did not shoot it on site.
I am not sure if many of you are familiar with rabies and what exactly it does to people and animals but you would not catch me near an animal that had it. Especially not in a place where I may not have the best access to medical treatment to try and save my life. This may explain why the onlookers stayed back and did nothing and why none of the officials wanted to approach it to handle it to get it out of there. Maybe they did not have immediate( or any) access to a vet with a dart gun etc and had to act quickly to try and keep the public safe?
It was a disgusting manner that they chose and watching it ripped my heart out. I cannot tell you what they should have done instead as I was not there to know what other options that had readily available.
One thing I do know is that a better and faster choice should have been found but I am glad I was not in the position to have to find the right thing to do to keep the public safe from a potentially deadly animal..
Probably nobody would have access to a gun though - its another way of life over there!! Like I said on an earlier thread, life means nothing in poor areas of Africa and India - even human...
What I find interesting is that two days ago someone posted on here about a sanctuary they had started working with in India, and hardly anyone even viewed the thread, let alone commented etc. If everyone is truly horrified by this (and it is awful, shocking, disgusting..) then do something that will help another animal out there...
I will try and find the link to the thread...
And horrific too the treatment of Chinese female babies and the ongoing burning alive of women, children and sometimes even men in parts of Africa when they are accused of witchcraft, female genital mutilation, the butchery of wars...
Like I said, I only happened upon this thread, saw and commented my thoughts about it. I don't have the time to go through everything. And yes they do have a variation of a humane killer easily available, that tube tapped on one side and delivers a bolt to the head. They have a JCB but do not have a single gun available within the entire villiage? Rubbish. More fool if you believe that.
I think I find it rather insulting to presume anyone being so disgusted with others actions are just sitting on their arses doing nothing. Many here contribute to charities or help others in some way or another, I'm sure. It's an extremely old internet cliche to accuse and vitually point when someone disagrees with something. You don't know me, I don't know you but I do know when something is very wrong indeed.
He actually did it on purpose, not an accident? (don't want to watch sounds horrific)
