Donkeys - Anything I need to know? :P Inherited Two I think

Thanks for all the input guys, you've been very reassuring.

I just found out the bank have contacted my fiances parents asking them to co-sign for 20,000 pounds of the mortgage (they work a bit different here and this a seperate part of it). Parents have agreed and they assume that it means the mortgage request will be going ahead

Apparently the donkies have been kept with horses before also.
 
Donkeys are fab and once the horse gets used to them (some get on straight away, some are confused as to what they are) they will honestly treat them like a god and won't want to let them out of their sight. Donkeys are more intelligent than your average horse and ours was like a big dog. We had no problem with lungworm - as long as you have a good worming programme it'll be fine. I would love to get another donkey, ours died a fews years ago but god nows how old he was. Maybe one day will get another.

They will bring you nothing but joy, they are such intelligent, loving little animals and seem to tune into your moods so well. Oh and yes they do have a 'sense of humour' I truly believe that!

I have got a donkey as a companion and he is fantastic!
All the horses I've had love him and only took a day or two to get used to the strange noises that come out of his mouth!
In fact all the mares I have ever had even mother him and think he's their foal!
Re the lungworm this is not a problem at all if you keep them regularly wormed like any other equine and it's an old wives tale that you can't graze horses and donkeys together.
Echo what the others have said about shelter, feet trimming and keeping an eye on their weight.
In a nut-shell if they are well looked after like any other equine and not just deserted in a field you will have no problems at all.
They are super little animals and I wouldnt be without my 'wonkey doneky'.
