Donkeys

If you ever need to adopt out a retired donkey let me know - would love to have one again :)

Hi, do get in touch (PM me). We very occasionally have the odd donkey to retire but the Donkey Sanctuary have donkeys available to foster. You have to have at least two though!!!

Here's my 15:3  Baudet de Poitou (Poitou donkey) mega donk.

I just woke him up.

My friend has a donkey called Dudley who has stolen my heart, he is the most lovely boy, a real character and a half. He has fits of the green eyed monster should you give some fuss to his field mates, shoving his aged miniature Shetland long time companion aside with his nose and chasing off the new up start pony!
The big boys in the next field love him to, caught one of the big boys sucking one of Dudley's ears a while back while Dudders stood day dreaming!
He was home breed (he is in his mid 20's now) and when his Mum, who he had been with his whole life passed away a couple of years ago he nearly died himself of grief, not eating, listless just so, so sad. It seems to me and those who know him that donkeys seem to make very strong bonds with their companions and care givers and change hits them very hard, we are dreading the fact his Shetland is unlikely to see the winter through. He has the most wonderful voice, the most creaky eeyore you ever did hear, calling out seems like such an effort for him I always feel very touched he has made the effort!
I never had anything to do with donkeys before I met Dudley but he has me hooked, he stole my heart hook, line and sinker! (only have pics on my phone right now and wouldn't know how to get them from there to here!)

Oh, Lazybee: I've ALWAYS wanted a Poitou! How did you acquire him? Can you tell me about his temperament? Details pleases......
