"Don't clip my ears or face!!" HELPPPPPPP

Haha yes he does jump and look at me like i'm holding some kind of horse eating monster every time i switch the clippers on!

Aside from his face though the rest of him i can clip on my own without much trouble - so could be a lot worse i suppose!

I know this is an old post BUT i just wanted to add that today i managed to clip half of Merlin's face :D there was quite a bit of protesting but after a while he gave up and i managed it :D it's not very neat but it's better than a big hairy beard and hopefully he'll be better the next time now :D

well done! :)

keep being patient with him! he'll come round!

I was told I couldn't clip Ron without sedation, but the last year or so I've clipped him loose in his stable and he stands like a rock. He doesn't like it (he snorts when he sees the clipper box, or the lead), but he can't be bothered to object and just lets me get on with it.
One of the reasons that I liked working with Michael Peace's method allows you to take your time and reinforce the right behaviour, and soon they learn to accept it. :)

He still jumps in the air and snorts when i turn them on, every time! Even though he's heard them being turned on and off countless times!

Motor does not like the clippers going up to his ears, but does not mind his face being clipped

Anyway a tip I was given and has worked really well, is to hold the ear nearest to the clippers, as you go up his neck and he copes much better and it has been an absolute success :)

Obviously it is easier if there are two of you, however if you are an expert clipper, then you should be able to carry out this 'manoeuvre' on your own.

I hope you achieve what you are after ;)

Twitch. My best friend for clipping!

Last time was my boy's second ever time being clipped. He wouldn't let me anywhere near his head before he started getting cross. Friend and I tried everything for about half an hour and we still couldn't tidy up the lines. Y/O suggested twitch and hey presto! Within 5 minutes the job was done.

Yesterday, stuck it straight on (along with the chifney) and again, neck and half a head were done in little over 5 minutes. He stood stock still with twitch removed and a haynet to munch for the remainder of the clip...

With a 17.2hh beast in excess of half a tonne, it really isn't worth getting into a fight about it...
