DONT FEED BRAN!! rant

LOL - Cant believe this thread is still going.

I dont give a toss about anyones Phd, my oldie is still getting his bran.

Did you see that research the other day saying that the 5 fruit & veg a day isn't good for you. Good thing I never started eating them

I never claimed that what I said was scientific fact, this is just a forum, I'm here to chat. If you don't care, why badmouth the institution I've worked at, then badmouth international students and finally insinuate that all in all I must have just started my PhD. All of those statements you've made are false, and where are you peer reviewed articles for those statements?

are you still going on???
do you have a phd in bran?
you are getting quite tiresome.

I mentioned that on pg 1 I think (or a similar story). If it's the same story, it's not "research" as such, but the opinion of one "nutritionist" whose credentials were found to be somewhat... er... overstated ;)

I'm certainly not against bran either - I have a bag in my feed bin, ready for winter :) I hope your oldie enjoys it as much as mine does!

Dancing Queen, welcome to The Good Fight :D

I believe the laxative effect is, in fact, something of an old wives tale, more relating to increased fibre resulting in increased fecal volume, as it were. But I could be wrong there (/where ever I read that may not be the most reliable source, since I can't remember where it was!).

QUOTE]

Ah thats not an old wives tale. My boy is suffering from perontinitus at the moment and is having daily vet visits. He was switched over to bran mashes at the vets say so to help keep his gut moving. He is now starting to have some feed (very small) amount added in. Its not given as a daily feed (agree about the calcium ratio - can filch it from the horse if needed). My yard always has bran for the ill horses but just not fed on a daily basis.

No, I'm out of that forum. I've had enough bull, personnal attack, double standards and selective deafness. I should know better that getting involved in things like that.
For the personn who loves RoundUp, just drink the bottle.

:D :D :D Me too - we're all going to die anyway, I'll take my chances with my non-organic bran, lack of fruit and veg and the two massive cakes I've had already this morning (celebrating someone's PhD incidentally. I'm pretty sure it wasn't in bran though!) :D I'm not a massive fan of steak though - gimme a burger with my can of round up :p

Never tried it, but up for anything. Does it go nice with vodka

I don't think anything goes well with vodka! Let's all play the pesticide drinking game :D

Hey, I'm doing a level 2 trec POR by myself tomorrow so I'm probably going to get lost and die in the woods somewhere then anyway, I might as well enjoy my last night of knowing where I am ;) :D

Hey, 100 posts :D I'm on a one poster mission to keep this thread going indefinitely ;)

Good luck tomorrow, wont expect any post for a week or so then.

Heavens no - I'll drink it neat, like all the other hard core pesticidoholics, thanks very much :D

pesticidaholics?

pestaholics? (or would that be addicted to pests?) or maybe pestoholics? (addicted to pesto? now that might be true :p)

So how did it go.

If you dont reply by tomorrow night we can send out search parties.

It was GREAT :D Thanks for asking :) I didn't get lost - not once :D Mind you, it's easier round my way - it's all bridleways and tracks, not like being on the open moor / forest or somewhere - that's the next challenge  And next time I might try to get my speeds somewhere near what they're meant to be too :p

We did make a bit of the obstacle PTV course today though  :o

So no search party today, thankfully!

Well done.

I just bought myself an iphone (I know way behind the times) it has a sat nav in it. I was wondering if it worked on the moors. This could be a plan

Thanks :) I lost my iPhone just before I left yesterday. Turned up in my trailer this morning. I did wonder about that too (before I lost it!) but it says it's not acceptable in the rule book :( Still, I will carry it in a sealed bag next time so if I do get lost I can locate myself (even if I am disqualified!) - so you won't have any hope of me being lost forever and not coming back to annoy people on here :D

ETA - I meant to say we made a bit of a MESS of the PTV, clearly I used my last remaining brain cells up on the navigating! :D

Funnily anough, i had this convosation with a friend a few weeks ago.
He said that roundup is so safe he could drink it with no bad affects at all. As he has been using it for so many years he must have ingested some along the way and is fine health wise.
Now wi'll i know he is a top gardener (used to work at Kew) i am not saying he is right or wrong, but i dont think i will be testing his theory. ;)
